Intriguing. A tap on the forehead, that's it...

Upon inspection of the opponent, he realized Phearis had some writing on his forehead...much like where he was tapped earlier. So he did some sort of binding then...

Well, Jack guessed it was his turn.

Jack then channeled a small amount of energy into his feet, accelerating his movement speed as he went for a punch onto Phearis' body.

*Phearis takes the punch as he rolls a few feet from the force holding his side, however he begins laughing, as Jack too gets sent flying by the same force he punched Phearis with, Phearis gets up, dusting off his clothes* i never said one couldnt think in the midst of batle Jack...listen to your opponents words....o and did i forget to mention im a Phoenix Shifter...consider those implications as you share my pain...

Quintan finishes writing his reply to the letter he received folded it and put it in his book bag to be sure to remember to send it off once he got home. He looked up at the ongoing battle and he shook his head before letting out a sigh.

Well that's not exactly the wisest choice to set there and be touched by your opponent, especially like that. I'm not sure if Phearis noticed me in 1st period or not but I was watching closely at what he was doing with those potions, it seems the word he says will somehow link itself to reality with himself. Not too sure how it works but I know those flames connect him to other things. I'd shout out to Jack but I don't know if that would be cheating or not. So let's just see what he does from here on... Hopefully whomever I'm matched up with won't take too long, if it does I might just consider giving up.

Kicking his legs up to lay across the back of an empty seat in front of him, Quintan gets relaxed while watching the sparring take place.

Aside from the insults, he hadn't heard anything from before except the name of his ability. He may have neglected to hear something else he said, but then again, this was a learning experience.

Phoenix shifter....that made his research a lot easier. There goes the suicide option if he could just reincarnate himself...or could he? Not that he would get the chance. No permanent damage, and if he remembered correctly, death was pretty permanent for humans.

Now that he had an understanding of what that little tap really was, he began to wonder if the opposite was also true. If so, then there were certain things he could do to try to get the edge in the battle.

As he brushed himself off from the minor hit, he decided to test his theory.

"As I share your pain, do you share mine?"

Jack then decided to apply direct lined energy from his armor to his left arm, causing incredible pain. Jack had experienced this multiple times as an apprentice, so he merely grit his teeth, but for someone who had most likely never experienced this...well let's see how Phearis reacted.

*Phearis lets out a ghastly inhuman screech which would normally cause humans directly around him to go deaf* so u wanna play the pain game? *he says through gritted teeth* think about this Jack *he begins to say his words with increasingly more venom* do u think the person who uses this ability would give in to pain so easily? *he flings his left arm out to the side as a small 8 rod of what apears to be black and chrome steel flies into his hand* this is ure warning...*the end closest to Phearis extends into a pike like spike as Phearis jabs the rod into his side consciously missing any vital organs as if he done this multiple times, he grimaces briefly before sliding the pike out slowly and then slowly stabbing himself a few inches away letting the pike sting through his skin centimeter by centimeter*

(The opponent doesn't show any signs of physical damage meaning wounds do not occur on the person, but they can feel the exact same pain created that Phearis applies to himself)

Quintan can't help but take this seriously, what kind of sparring is this? It didn't seem just. Phearis simply got his ability countered and he's about to go insane. If this kept up Quintan didn't know if he'd able to just sit back and relax like he's doing now.

Now Phearis is just playing dirty. Though there's a way to counter what he's doing right now, but I can't shout out, you'll have to learn how to counter this one on your own Jack. Hm, I think it's best I talk to Jack after school eventually I need to talk with him a bit.

Still watching the spar now more closely Quintan looses his neutral stance and begins to take a supportive mindset on Jack's side. Fighter's like Phearis he couldn't really stand.

Jack loved being a master swordsman sometimes. Like right now.

You see, his master, a crazy air elemental, decided that Jack, as a human, needed to be...what was his reason... disciplined. Constantly.

It wasn't as if Phearis' attacks didn't hurt, they were excruciating. But he had attacks to him that were life threatening while being trained(and recently as well). If he was lucky, he could get at least one of these injuries. The only reason he was alive was due to his own multiple attempts at a crude healing device at the time. So yes, he thought he could play the pain game. But, he had one more card to play.

"That was...painful. But I wish to ask a question. Have you mastered a blade in the old ways? If so, then this should be a walk in the park for you. Unless you've never felt one of MY blades."

Jack managed to walk over to his case and pick up the blade of this set, the S-1. This blade was also specially requested by the husband-to-be, however, this was one time he regretted his work.

As he carefully maneuvered energy around his body to his feet, trying to avoid his injuries, he accelerated toward Phearis in a medium-level swordsmanship stance, adding energy to his blade, preparing for his strike.

The reason why he regretted his work you ask? The husband specifically requested the ability to easily slice through flesh at a certain range of energy application. Jack...forgot this specific range. It wasn't his standard range, it was that weirdo's range, and he didn't change it...yet.

So, he hoped that he wouldn't end up slicing his arm off after this strike. He took and educated guess and applied a 30% energy ratio in proportion to the anticipated area of the sword to make contact with Phearis, and prayed.

*Phearis removes his pike grmiacing as the kanji on both their heads dissipated, a few seconds after removing the weapon Jack notices the skin on Phearis' body re knitting itself together* a blade of the old way? im afraid i was never one for swordmanship...*the pike end of the weapon retracts as the opposite end extends from phearis once it reaches it full length(6') an ornate black scythe blade shoots out of the side, Phearis begins dashing towards Jack holdfing his scythe at a downward relaxed grip with one hand over the handle and the other under*

As their blades clashed, Jack realized why Phearis' technique was so effective. If he could regenerate skin, then it was most likely he could regenerate body parts as well. All while causing untold amounts of pain for his opponent.

He never thought he would say this to that crazy air lady, but he thanked her in his mind for torturing him daily.

Jack then managed maneuver Phearis' scythe away from a good position and backed up, cautious and patient.

*daisuke enters and see's someone sparring*

"Hmm......"(Yay I'm roleplaying now xD)

Pain Blade *a spiral of flame engulfs my scythe before concentrating onto the blade, it dissipates into the blade as the kanji for Pain appears on both sides of the blade* and still apprehension radiates from you like a scared wet dog...empaths should have a better understanding of emotions than most beings...and yet you remain limited in your growth by them...perhaps this should help you Pain Promotes Growth *Phearis rushes toward you jabbing his scythe just past your body, he then sharply pulls back the scythe attempting to slash through the right arm joint of your armor, if it lands Jack notices that the scythe simply phases through the "cut" without actually cutting him however he suddenly experiences the increased sensation of being violently slashed in multiple parts of his arm*

As Phearis brings his scythe back onto the joint of Jack's armor, Jack maneuvers his blade in an attempt to counter it. Normally, it would have worked. However, remember when Jack took an educated guess on the energy ratio of his sword? He was right... in the wrong way.

While having an enhanced ability to cut through flesh was generally a good thing, it came with a downside...a decreased offense against metal.

As Jack hit Phearis' scythe blade, he noticed that it wasn't pushing the metal back as it should, which resulted in the scythe nicking through the joint of his right arm...though there was no pain.

Jack jumped back and prepared to strike again when he noticed a... tingly sensation.

More like the sensation of his arm was being cut up...AGAIN.

"Gaaaaaaahhhh!"

He dropped his sword in pain as he gripped his sword arm, trying to do something about the pain.

As he was trying not to spasm his right arm, he considered Phearis' words...

Sure, he was taking hits, but now held some cards. Phearis had revealed some of his abilities, and he knew that he was a Phoenix Shifter, so it was only a matter of time before that came out...

He, on the other hand, had not even brought out his personal armor, nor one of the other sets he had in abundance. He was doing pretty good in his own opinion.

Except for that familiar sensation in his right arm.

Then he considered what Phearis said on being an empath... and he was right. If he had control over it, he could have had a better hand in this current situation. In the grand scheme of things, he had a lot of cards left. But in the battle right now...only 2. And he was about to play one of them.

Jack then channeled some his energy into his right arm, hearing a satisfying click as he registered the energy pooling up. His right arm may not be useful for a punch, but he was ambidextrous.

He again applied energy into his feet, dashing toward his sword, picking it up, and going towards Phearis. When he got close enough, he directed the energy in his right arm into a doughnut shape, and then simultaneously applied energy to open up the outer layer of his greave, causing the energy to release explosively onto to Phearis. Jack then swings his sword, this time applying a 70% ratio of energy to the whole right side of his double-edged weapon.

thtz it confidence...perhaps you may work out yet hehe *Phearis swings his scythe in front of him, as the energy wave hits him blowing him back, Phearis attmepts to block the blade slash with his scythe, the blade cleaves through the scythe while slashing Phearis' torso before he goes rolling on the ground, he sits up with his wound already healing but sweat begin to form over his body* i concede Jack...for now...

KosMos: *both Jack and Phearis are suddenly in the stands once more as KosMos and Nebuleuse stand in the center once more*

Nebuleuse: *the moment they get teleported Jack realizes he doesnt feel any of the effects from the battle and his armor and sword are already in their case, Phearis to has his close restored from the battle and his weapon is nowhere to be seen*

Both: wonderful match Phearis, Jack. But you should know there's always room for improvement. Quintan give us some constructive criticism on what transpired, and what you believe either opponent couldve done better...

*not being interested in what's going on he leaves the place and heads over to the beach*

Quintan looks up being kind of shocked asked to give criticism he saw a lot but I guess this was for the better. The battle was a bit quick but he could commit on their performance. He goes ahead and stands up out of his chair getting ready to give his criticism.

Alright. Let's first start with Jack, the battle for him seemed to be of luck not necessarily skill, not yet at least. The only reason he made it so far was due to the mass amount of damage he could take if he didn't have that mindset he would've been finished once Phearis stabbed himself with the spike. Even though I state that as a negative factor to Jack let's continue to feed on Jack's damage taking. Instead of enduring the pain Phearis was causing by his stabbing, Jack should have just put electricity in to his other arm which would've caused Phearis to drop his weapon and also cause an another amount of excruciating pain, unless I'm the only one who heard his girlie screeching. Alright that's the negative. Now the positive about Jack is he has a good skill in combat, if I was to mark his fighting class I would have to say a Warrior type because he takes considerable damage while still pushing forward. He has strong determination and with skill and power like his he could be one of the best fighters I believe. Some see people who use technology to fight as weaklings I see it otherwise, it takes a true pro to be able to control machinery at the level Jack was doing it.

Hmph, now for Phearis. Starting with the negative once again. Phearis seems to be highly effected by damage taking. I think he hadn't expected Jack to figure out a counter so quickly to his first technique, the pain splitting. Again, if I was the only one to hear that girlie scream, I'd have to say Phearis and physical pain are the worst of friends. His attack style, from my view, is too cowardice or more correctly said self conscious. He doesn't seem to be the type to fight up close at least in this battle he showed no signs of wanting to fight up close, even when he pulled out his scythe he threw out far ahead of him and reeled it back which I find a long-ranged attack. If Phearis wants to survive on the battle-field he'll have to learn how to fight close and personal. Now with that said, time for the positive. Phearis seems to be pretty sharp in and out of the battlefield that goes without saying. Though I said previously, that his abilities seemed cowardice they also take a lot of control mentally. His way of fighting consist of learning about the opponent I believe. In a solo battle the odds seem against Phearis but if he works together with someone I see it as he'd be the top player.

Having this said Quintan takes his seat stretching his legs out and putting them over the empty seat in front of him once again. Hopefully both Jack and Phearis can take his criticism's to heart in such a way they'll work on their problems which aren't really major anyway. Shrugging at the matter, Quintan picks up his book about heat again opening it up and begins to read while waiting for the next two contestants to present themselves on the battlefield. Quintan wasn't really eager for his turn. He really did feel unprepared but thats only because he became so engrossed in scientific theories about heat that he feels the need to learn everything about it before getting caught up in a battle. But thats only what Quintan thought, if the time came to fight he'd be ready.

Phearis conceded...that was odd. Then again, there were a lot of odd things that happened in this class, he needed to reflect upon this...

Jack proceeded to pick up his case and take a seat generally near Meru and Quintan.

As he heard Quintan's criticism, he acknowledged all the logic in it. He WAS lucky, his master had taught very few humans her methods, since they often died before reaching an approximate level...except for him. If she saw that battle that just occurred...next topic.

As part of his training he was told to always exercise caution in every situation, it was one of the most important rules...besides the complex Rule 1. But still. Why didn't HE think of that...

For the good part, he took in that his skills were still good, but really took in the compliment about his style with machinery. After all, an inventor loves to be appreciated in his work.

Now there was Phearis. For some odd reason, Jack was a bit more...relaxed around Phearis to be described at best. He still wouldn't trust the guy with dang thing, but after fighting him... he felt that he understood Phearis a bit better.

Now there were the other things of high note. Nebuleuse was most likely the time manipulator, as his multiple references to time made it obvious enough. But that also meant Meru was a time manipulator, which left him curious about this power.

What could stop it? What were it's weaknesses and main strengths? Most importantly, could he build something with the ability to replicate it...or defend against it, in the extreme case. Not that he intended to fight Meru, he hadn't gotten any bad feelings from her, so he was pretty sure she was good, besides some emotional trauma. Then again, who here hadn't experienced some of that drink...

Focus. He needed to talk to Meru and Quintan, along with some of his other classmates and see what they were like. At this point, he didn't care about his eyes, so he had no need to try and cover them up should he get any vibes from someone else.

For now, he would sit and wait for the next battle to occur, sure to observe anything of note to occur.

*Phearis sat down materialising a large tome* cowardice...*he chuckles despite himself, while quietly musing to himself about the criticism* (i was afforded certain natural abilities...and lack of abilities towards one area...and as such i am labeled a coward...i made the best of my abiltities and made from them a fighting style that corresponds to my abilities...) *he laughs* amusing...indeed...(Quintan highly distrusts me...and i sense a "bond" between Jack and I)...wild cards truly are intriguing...amongst that i learned about Jack from this battle...fortunately for me my abilities work best outside of battle)...ill wait till class is over...

*he turns toward the others* i await your match Quintan and Meru...also thank you Jack for providing me with your...intent...

Meru smiled softly as she clapped enthusiastically for the two of them.
"That was a very insightful battle guys," Meru smiled as she congratulated the two.

Wasn't it Emru...?
Hmph...I suppose...we learned a lot more now didn't we?
Mmhm~!

Nebuleuse: But please do begin soon we're already 40 minutes late last year....

Meru giggled at his comical time reference. "I will try my best," she bowed and smiled sweetly at Noboru as she held out her hands. "White Magic Aid Me to Victory..." a whip appeared in her hands as she made it snap with a swift movement.

"Mm...hope I'm not too rusty..." her lips moved in a whisper as the whips metal links caught fire.
