Monster Business is a very character driven story. It is also rather self-aware. It doesn't take itself TOO seriously and is rather "Trope Savvy". The environment is that of a sort of Fantasy/Steam Punk. (So steam punk that they actually have computers but not to the extent of use that we have them. Computers mostly just for calculation and such. They have cars, etc. However, the land itself is quite surreal. The Steam Punk is more subtle though. It's not so blatantly in your face like it is in most cases of Steam Punk fiction.

Background When Brock was younger, he'd always get in trouble for taking any dare he was presented with. He'd get into fights for friends and even steal for them if he deemed it necessary. However, later Brock found that it wasn't enough to just get angry and pick a fight. So he started applying himself. He made it a challenge from his own person to get smarter, faster, and all around better. Then, when he was skilled enough, he won back for his friend. He was also noticed on that day and recruited to be a Monster Officer.

Background Allison trained behind her brother at the Imperial Academy and actually managed to surpass his accomplishments. She later went on to become the captain of the new Imperial Assault Force before being reassigned to the Chroma Falls Monster Defense Unit to act as Captain there.

She's a dreamer for certain and hopes to one day be a real part of the Monster Defense Unit so she can try and get people to understand that monsters aren't all bad.
Background The daughter of a blacksmith, Juni had been taught from a young age how to use a forge. From that spawned in interest, however, in how to use a sword. She always founds monsters to be ore fascinating than terrifying and discovered early in life that it was because she could understand them. After a rather tragic incident in her home town, her dying father told her to head for Chroma City to meet with her uncle. And she did. But in the back of her mind was a faint desire to make whoever destroyed her hometown pay.

Background Meg pretty much showed up out of nowhere when the team was fighting a monster in the river near town. She defeated it rather easily using her Bio-Shock ability and it turned out that she was the girl that the Commander was searching for in the first place. Now she's a full member of the team in Alpha Division.
Traits Preferred Weapon: A shield and sword Skills: Highly Skilled Combatant and Athlete, Superior Intellect, Deductive Reasoning, Strategist Abilities: Willow is capable of disappearing. While in this invisible state, she can also pass through solid object. This only lasts in short bursts though, so she tends to use it while moving. Experience Level: Adept
Personality Likes: Poetry, Literature, Theater, Music, Quiet Dislikes: Pointlessness, Uneducated Questions, Being thanked, wasting time Fears: Unknown Values: Intelligence, Knowledge, Individuality Bad Habits: A tendency to exclude herself from group endeavors when it isn't work related General Personality: A very mysterious and intelligent individual, Willow is quiet and rarely ever voices her opinions. She is perceived as the perfect genius by many and thus accepts this, denying change because she is, as others say, 'So Very Perfect'. She expects nothing from anyone and relies on no one. This way she can never be disappointed. She is fond of noting that Willow is Willow. Nothing more, nothing less.
Background Willow also received her education at the Imperial Academy and was on the Imperial Assault Force. She, like Allison, was reassigned to the Chroma Falls Monster Defense Unit. She's kept to herself her entire life and lets no one in. Thus very little is known about her.
Don:
Don Parish is the Commander of the Chroma Falls Monster Defense Unit. He is eccentric and can be rather strange but he is also a very intelligent, wise, caring, and cryptic man who is always two steps ahead. He isn't afraid to 'Play the Villain' and always has a plan that seems to always come out as he'd expected.
Hex:
Hex is Hex...yeah, nothing's known about him yet.

Checkered Past
Checkered past, like Monster Business, doesn't take itself too seriously. Though it does take itself a bit more seriously by comparison. The characters all have their own arcs just like those in Monster Business. Checkered past takes place in a world that is basically straightforward Fantasy. Unlike Monster Business, it isn't divided into episodes and just has a general flow (Monster Business is based on a story that's in a sort of script format I created. Checkered Past was designed to be an RP). You play for either side. White or Black(Corrupted) and you may occupy any of the ranks except for King and Queen. So basically Pawn, Rook, Bishop, and Knight.
Spoiler:
Jocelyn Pontiac (Pawn) is a small little thing but she takes everything absolutely seriously. What makes it funny is that she's just so ADORABLE! She's always ready for battle and prepping lecturing those who commit to wrongdoings. However, she's so small and cute that it's hard for anyone to take HER seriously. Just don't tell her that to her face. She's a bit insecure about her height and she does have a rather short temper (No Pun Intended). She is crippled, however, by a particularly strong fear of failure.

Natalie Roquette (Rook) is a firecracker who is ready for any battle. There is no stopping her once she's started, so it's best to get out of her way. Rookie, as she's called, is a hyper young lady as well. Unlike Jocelyn (Or Little Bit as she's taken to calling her. It's the one height joke Jocelyn really doesn't respond to), Natalie hardly takes anything seriously. She's always pulling pranks, making jokes, playing games, and just generally trying to have fun, resisting any and all advances in growth.

Heather Knightly (Knight) is the most laid back member of the bunch. She's rather proud and can be stubborn but she's also reliable and never backs down. She's also the wisdom of the bundle, usually coming across as the 'big sister' and passing on a life lesson from the perspective of someone who wasn't born into warrior's armor and lived on the streets for most of her life, learning about the world through observation.

Helena Bismark (Bishop) is a silver tongued young woman. Devious and deceptive. She tends to talk her way through everything in interest of finding her way out of things she doesn't want to face. However, she has also found that her quips are a powerful weapon, distracting her enemies or embarrassing them, thus making them clumsy and easily defeated. She's a bit of an eccentric narc but she means well.

Meredith Quin (Queen) is the definition of Obsessive Compulsive. She is obsessed with her look and tries to, at all times, maintain her appearance. She can be paranoid and isn't too trusting. She likes to see herself as a classy, sophisticated woman. However, don't let this demeanor distract you...unless you're one of her true enemies, The Corrupted. Meredith is a fierce opponent if she finds she must fight. It's likely because she knows her outfit will more than likely be ruined. And it took her so long to get all dolled up too.

Murder World
Meredith:
An estranged, schizophrenic girl who seems to almost always be lost in thought. She's probably the least obviously insane of the bundle despite it being her idea to assemble a group of the greatest killers in Murder World. That tends to not be what people expect, however, since she's never actually claimed a life herself and has noted that she would feel uncomfortable doing so. Meredith is, by no means, a helpless little girl. She actually has a deep hidden potential locked away beneath her prominent powers of elasticity.
Jango:
He would like to think that he's much tougher than he is but Jango still is no pushover. His overreactions and loathsome attitude toward Meredith make him quite the character to have around. He's very expressive and vocal as well as ingeniously insane, cooking up schemes that only a man as mad as he could make work. Because his body is essentially a skeleton, Jango can be broken apart into several pieces and reassemble himself. He can detach any part of himself and will it about mentally.
Mini:
Mini is cutesy and childlike however she may be the eldest member of the bunch. She doesn't age and caries herself around like a five year old in the body of a teenager. She the most obviously insane to be certain as she dominantly kills just for kicks when she does. She uses her appearance generally as a ruse then unexpectedly strikes. She's capable of spawning fangs, claws, and a bladed tail as well as teleporting around short distances.
Ghoul:
Ghoul is a stone-faced serious killer but a killer by accident. He developed a split personality after a particularly tragic event in his life and that other persona is a bloodthirsty psychopath. Ghoul himself now kills dominantly as a vigilante of sorts, opposing Jack-in-the-Box while trying to keep himself at bay. Ghoul seems to possess no particularly flashy abilities beyond a superior aptitude for Athleticism.
Leech:
Leech is, as his name may suggest, a greedy man and a glutton. His animalistic craving for life energy is unyielding and he allows it to drive in in his pursuit of Mini who he believes to have the greatest Life Energy of the bunch. He follows the group for a supposed second reason, however. One that makes his motives infinitely mysterious. Leech is capable of absorbing life energy through contact or from a short distance.
Monstro:
A large, hulking man, Monstro is the brawn of the group. However, he’s also a total idiot and flies into a murderous rage whenever he’s made fun of. Monstro’s bulk makes him absurdly durable and capable of absorbing the worst of the enemy’s attacks. His brute strength allows him to win over even Hunter-Killers with his bare hands. He lugs around a set of shackles with iron balls at the ends that he uses as weapons. He is obviously capable of coating his body in a highly durable exoskeleton that lessens his speed and mobility but enhances his strength and invulnerability.

The year is 2157. Mankind discovered a way to colonize other planets beyond what we knew. Through the vast exploration provided, man discovered that it was, in fact, alone in this universe. Every visited world was uninhabited but far from uninhabitable.
Year: 2180. The population of Earth begins to explode. Colonists begin to relocate to foreign worlds to build their homes.
2185. A single world at the farthest accessible reaches of the cosmos is discovered. It is claimed by a small group of individuals and is publicly advertised from then on as an asylum. A place for the mentally ill to find solace.
2234. The Asylum world's access drive is destroyed. All communications with the outside worlds are cut. Ownership is transferred from the original owner and the world, itself, is remodeled, being designed to resemble a planet-sized amusement park and circus. Individuals begin to pop up with truly bizarre abilities, many of which defying the very laws of nature.
2237. The Asylum is officially renamed "Murder World", now run by a mad man who calls himself "Jack-in-the-Box". His goal? To use the inhabitants as toys and watch them all kill one another.
2250. Jack grows bored with his accomplishments. He creates the "Hunter-Killers", giant machines meant to level Murder World unless someone can actually manage to stop them.

Lost Kids A group of adolescents in Haven City, Virginia come to discover quite a bit about themselves after they find that their parents (all of them superheroes or closely associated with superheroes) have all gone missing. This was no simple disappearance, however. They all seemingly vanished from the face of the Earth at very close to the same exact time. Almost as if it were a systematic abduction. When a mysterious young man with bionic limbs enters the lives of these young ones, they find that their lives have all changed in ways they could never imagine. They band together, not only to find their own missing parents, but to care for other kids who fall under the same category and help them to find theirs.
Braid

Erica Love is a young, mixed (African American/Caucasian) girl with long, braided hair who often wears a headband or bandana. She is the definitive female head of the group of teenagers devoted to watching after these children who can hardly take care of themselves. She has a take charge attitude and is generally very kind and sincere as well as defensive of those who can’t defend themselves. She has a unique ability in the manipulation of her own hair. Her hair can become a head full of indestructible tendrils that she can extend and kinetically manipulate at will as if they were extra limbs. She’s grown accustomed to calling those around her “kids” aside from Kid-Bionic which is ironic due to his name actually having the word Kid in it. She tends to just call him Bobby. Kid-Bionic
Robert “Bobby” Chaplin is the male head of the Lost kids. Where Erica is the love and compassion of the group, Kid-Bionic is the “strict parent” but also the fun one. He lives with a guilt complex that causes him to come off as a bit on edge but he means well ultimately and tries to make up for his mistakes. Kid-Bionic has bionic arms and legs that can extend over several meters (Roughly 107 feet) thanks to nanite technology. Because of his cyborg composition, he is also superhumanly strong. His limbs presumably have built in weapons but he doesn't know how to activate them. (Parents: Unknown)
Blackbird
A member of the Lost Kids by the name of Sunny Rivera (Caucasian/Latina American). She has a pair of black bird wings protruding from her back and can actually communicate with and control birds. She is the quiet one, usually off to the side. But if anyone she cares about is threatened, she can be a fierce combatant. She also has retractable talons that are hard enough to rip through metal. That and she knows Judo. (Parents: Gene Rivera/Animal Doctor)
Twister
The least mature of the bunch, Twister (Actual name Kenny McClain) has a crush on Braid. He often acts out to get her attention, even if it is just a scolding. He is incredibly energetic and mischievous. He can be quite hasty and rash as well as naïve but he has a heart of gold and really means no harm. Twister’s unique ability is his ability to use his entire body or just his limbs to generate tornado-like winds. This has proven to allow him unstable flight among other abilities such as the creation of pseudo-barriers. It is believed that he can actually create tornados that aren’t connected to his body but he’s never tested this. (Parents: Ivan McClain/Richter, Nancy McClain/Storm Bringer)
Damage
AKA Cyrus Cassidy, the eldest of the bunch, a former jock turned into an element absorbing man whose powers became stuck at one point, freezing him in the form he is now. His body is composed of stone, wood, crystal, and steel and while he lets on that he doesn’t really care, it honestly kills him inside more likely than not. He passes himself off as the lovable big guy with a big appetite and a competitive nature that he matches with Twister’s. (Parents: Dr. Vic Cassidy, Elaine Sullivan-Cassidy)
Wallflower
Iris Love, Erica’s little sister, isn’t a part of the actual group because of two reasons. She doesn’t enjoy fighting and she’s too young. Iris has a sort of “Venom Shock” ability, meaning that venom runs through her veins and secretes itself through her pours. She isn’t in full control of this, however, so she refrains from physical contact with people without gloves. The Venom Shocks aren’t lethal but they do sting and are enough to knock a rhino on its side. She is also superhumanly agile, flexible, and boasts superhuman reflexes. Pink
Another of the group, Pink (Real name Jocelyn “Josie” Harte) is a free-spirited girl with a rather aloof demeanor and tries to make those around her happy at all times, even if it means a risk of getting into trouble...or rather serious danger. She loves to see people smile. However, she herself gets lonely and depressed very easily and suffers from a severe homesickness. Josie’s powers are…strange. Aside from being capable of sprouting colorful butterfly-like wings, her skin and hair turn pink when she uses her powers. To accompany this, her hands are actually bizarre claws that allow her to rend the fabric or reality and tear open portals. However, these claws can do many more things as well, such as tear through sheet metal. Her hands become these claws when directly exposed to direct sunlight. Thus she wears gloves to accompany her very long sleeved sweaters when outside. Presumably, Pink can actually control the creatures of the world that her claws link her to.
