The Lost Kids Empty
PostSubject: The Lost Kids   The Lost Kids EmptyTue Oct 30, 2012 12:50 am

When we're little, we all think that our mom and dad are superheroes. It's just a reality check when you find out they are.
~Jocelyn Harte

It happened so quickly. Everything they ever knew was just turned on its head. Several young ones reported in that day. It'd been at least a day. Each of these kids had an extraordinary secret. Each of these kids had an excruciating burden. There wasn't an empty chair in that Police Station lobby. Every seat was filled with a minor. It must have been strange to be in a position like this. Their parents were part of a special crowd. Superheroes, most of them. To have that taken from them...to have that feeling of safety snatched from beneath one's feet. It was eye opening.

The officer leaned over at his desk as the next girl came up. She was a cute thing. A long sweater, red hair, and hypnotic eyes. "So are you here because your folks-?"

"Yes," she abruptly responds. "My mom and dad went missing last night. They said they'd be back...back at eight. They never came home."

"All right, and your name? Their names?"

"Wyatt and Diana Harte. My name is Jocelyn."

She was certainly in a panic and that didn't go without notice. The rest of these kids were all in disarray. It could have been a prank...but what if it WAS genuine? They'd have to look into it. Looking around the room, the officer assesses the group. One pair appeared to be sisters. Two African American girls with similar facial features. There was a boy there of the same ethnicity but no relation as far as could be told by looking at him. There was a dark haired girl, sitting in the corner by herself and there was a blonde boy, pacing around the lobby rapidly. The looks on all of their faces were the same. If these kids weren't distraught, then they were brilliant actors and actresses. The officer tried, then, to think of how his own daughter might react if he'd ever gone missing. "All right, kids, listen. Legally, your folks aren't missing until they've been gone a full 24 hours. Now, I'm not supposed to do this but I will send out a search as soon as I am able. Just stay here and we'll work on getting your information. Seeing if we can get you to any of your other relatives or anyone of that nature to look after you." The officer then leaves.

Information about Kid

Silently sitting with the other children Kid kicked his feet back and forth.

"24 hours until they officially go missing.. maybe there's still hope."

He sighed lightly. Being very smart for his age, he just knew something bad happened. He couldn't determine what though. He looked around seeing all the other children there with him seeing their disarrayed faces. Kid just knew if something happened or rather when that thing did happen, it was no coincidence.

"What's going on.."

The younger of the two sisters lays her head down on the shoulder of her elder sibling. It was hard enough to really talk about the situation as it was. But the girl in the corner of the lobby speaks up. "Our parents are all missing, right? It is...not coincidence." She looks straight down at the floor with her hands folded in her lap and her head held down. Obviously she lacked more that security. There was no inner confidence to be found within her light framed body.

"Tch, totally! No WAY this all just happened just 'cause. Our folks were, like...abducted!" Says the blonde young man as he paces around.

"Would you sit down somewhere?" The red head inquires. "You're making me dizzy."

PostSubject: Re: The Lost Kids   The Lost Kids EmptyTue Oct 30, 2012 9:48 pm

Kid listened in on the small conversation going on. He was never one to believe in aliens, ghosts, and other unproven myths, but he had took in consideration of the abduction. Kid turned his chair so it angled towards the children.

If anything is for certain we all know that our parents just randomly went missing. I don't know about you all, but I have no faith in the cops settling this matter. On top of that, I don't feel safe about living with my relatives why would our parents go missing but we're left behind? Too odd and risky to choose to stay with other family members in my opinion.

Kid slouched slightly in his chair and slipped half of his left hand in his left pants pocket. The hand in his pocket is a very common action he does. A habit one could say.

"Well ain't you a regular kid-Einstein," says the eldest young man in the room, leaning forward in his seat. "But he's right. I don't buy it either. I buy even less that the cops are gonna get very far. A few years back a kid went missing and they didn't find him until a couple months ago, dead in the woods by the park."

"You sound like you're suggesting we go find our folks ourselves, dude," The blonde one says, turning on a pivot.

"It'd probably be a heckuva lot faster," the elder of the two sisters speaks up.

"I just wanna find my mom and dad," proclaims the red head.

The dark haired Latin American girl then glances up as the room grows quiet. "We should...try ourselves?"

Kid didn't know whether to thank the eldest or just not to respond to the compliment of his smarts. He always got in this struggle whenever he was complimented because found things just to be common sense.

I wouldn't mind searching for my parents but I don't know where to start. Until we can come up with a possible cause it'll be like trying to find pebble in a bunch of rocks.

Kid looked over to the Latin American girl.

Yep, I think we should just do it ourselves. We all were left perfectly fine for whatever reason. But if we're going to do this we'll need a leader, that won't be me..

"Why would someone abduct our parents anyway?" The red head inquires, her arms crossed as she looks off to the side.

At that the room grew quiet again. There was certainly a tension about this situation, even among these kids. "Well," the blonde boy finally speaks up, "I think I know why mine would be abducted but, I mean, I totally doubt it's the same reason for you guys."

"Shouldn't we probably worry about names first?" The eldest of them speaks.

"Ah yeah, forgot about that," the blonde confirms. "Big guy's right. Names Kenny. What about you all?"

A small glimmer of confidence rose in Kid's spirit. Everyone was cooperating and he had faith if they took action they could do something or at least figure out the big questions 'why?' and 'what?'

My name's Kid Patel. I'm looking forward to work with you guys.

"Cyrus," speaks the eldest again. He then looks to the others.

"You're talking like you intend to start a super secret club or something...I'm game," says the redhead. "Jocelyn."

"My name is...well, call me Sunny," chimes the latina.

That leaves only the two sisters on the opposite side of the room. The younger of the two only looks up at her older sister. She could tell what she wanted but this honestly didn't seem like a sensible idea. An intelligent notion, to be sure...but also dangerous and very likely destined for failure. More intelligent than the rest, she may not have been, but her instincts told her that something was off with this group. She runs her fingers through her little sister's hair and looks to the window. "We'll...pass for now," she says, the sister sinking her head back onto her shoulder.

Kid stood up from his seated position ready to leave. He didn't like the idea of being kept in a police department for another few hours.

"Those two don't want to join in? Hm, oh well." He made a light shrug. "Maybe later. So, are the rest of you ready yet? I'm a bit tired of this department..."

Kid was hoping the rest were as ready to leave as he was. He had some ideas to through out but he kept them to himself. He didn't want to offer himself as leader and was making very sure that wouldn't happen.

Cyrus looks to the back, seeing that the officers were all busy with their other issue at the moment. He then gets up and leaves, Kenny and Sunny following close behind, leaving Jocelyn in the station with the other two girls. "So," Jocelyn says when the lot of them have gone, "Why don't you want to help?"

"If it sounds too good to be true, it is," the elder sister responds. "I'm just lookin' out for my little sister." The younger of the two seemed to be in a trance. She was hardly paying any attention to anything around her for certain.

Jocelyn turns to leave when she stops at the sounds of a voice. "Hold up," the elder sister says. "Now I get to ask you a question. What did your parents do, exactly?"

"Mine? My dad's a mechanic."

"And your mom?"

"My mom is...a traveler," Jocelyn responds. She then takes another step toward the door before running off to catch up with the others.

Kid followed the others out to the door, with his left hand still situated inside his left pocket. He looked back at the two sisters.

"Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty if you want anything done. I expect to see you two in the future. So until then, chow."

Kid waves his hand as he exits. He closed his eyes and taking a deep breathe then exhaling, reopening his eyes.

"And so it begins.."

"I don't care about getting my hands dirty. But I'm not walking into something that smells fishy. Something isn't right..." The older sister says as they disappear through the doors.

Jocelyn stands to the back of the group of adolescents and a little one. Her hands were hidden beneath her incredibly stretched out sleeves. "How, exactly, are we supposed to find our missing parents, anyway?"

"We do a little detective work," Cyrus says.

"I say we just go door-to-door and ask if anyone's seen 'em. I'll make the posters," Kenny jokes.

Sunny simply stands there and observes. Suddenly, her attention snaps to something in the distance and she abruptly turns her head before suddenly dashing off.

"Hey! Where's she going?!" Cyrus inquires.

"What are you guys waiting for? Let's go!" Kenny says, running off after her.

A little detective work.. Sounds appropriate. But of course, i guess we could just run around straight to the answer.

Kid chuckled slightly as he joked in his last statement. He ran along with the other two wondering what Sunny could be running to.

Hopefully she knows what she's doing.. though this could be punishment for me trying to stay the follower..

Sunny stops at the end of a busy street and looks around to a point where she sees someone danging over the side of a building. It had been a suicide jumper...one who'd changed his mind and was now hanging on for life.

"Oh god," Jocelyn says as the kids all near the area.

"That's gonna be messy," Cyrus says. "Anyone on the way to help him?"

One of the onlookers in the street shakes her head. "It was too sudden. They'd never get here and set up a trampoline fast enough."

Kid looked at the man in shock and then let out a despairing sigh.

Sheesh, no one ever wants to die.. No matter how much thought you put into it, it's just not humanly possible to want one's self to die. If a trampoline can't be brought in time then we should at least try to do something. He got to the top of the building somehow so we should be able to as well.

Hang on!Kid shouts to the guy hanging. He then runs into the building and takes the stairs hoping the last set will lead to the rooftop and also hoping the man can hold on by the time he, and if others come, get there.

"He'll fall before we can get up there!" Cyrus says. "Look at him. He's slippin'!"

Jocelyn sees someone with a skull cap on then sneaks away from the others, borrowing it and wandering off. Just as Sunny and Kid make it to the roof, the man slips but he's very fortunately caught by...a girl with pink skin, razor sharp claws, bug wings, and a skull cap with cut out eye holes worn over her head as a mask? She then hands him to Sunny who looks down upon him, seeing he is very likely about to throw up then turns him so that he does so on the rooftop and not on her clothing. By the time her attention is turned elsewhere, the winged girl is gone.

Kid panted a bit after running up the long flight of stairs but managing to see what had happened.

I know i'm not hallucinating, that was some strange person, or thing, flying in the air which saved the man. I don't know where it went though..

Kid walked over to the man lying on the ground.

Now do you see? Life is precious, even you don't want to die in the most terrible of times. Suicide isn't the answer

"I didn't ask for a lecture, kid. Just call the cops or something," says the victim.

Sunny helps the man up and walks him inside to help him back down to the lobby where a team is ready. She says nothing regarding that...girl from before. What strange powers. She'd seen so many powers, what with all of the superheroes around the city...come to think of it...she hadn't seen any in a while. Perhaps her own parent wasn't the only superhero parent to go missing. But if that were the case...

Sunny shoves her hands into her pockets when everything is finally taken care of. Jocelyn and the rest stand at the corner, having seen the entire thing from where they are. "Man, that was out there," Kenny says, stilling looking up. "Hey, that super chick. Where'd she go?"

"She must have left," Jocelyn says.

Kid watches the two leave from the roof. He soon goes to follow but waits behind just a bit. He remembered an odd moment when running up the stairs. He felt as if his right foot sunk into the one of the stairs while he was running up them and ended up tripping because of it.

Hmm.. Eh, it was probably just a simple trip not lifting up my foot high enough.

He proceeds to leave the building to meet with the others.

You guys saw it to huh? That was pretty strange.. It does seem to open new opportunities though.

"Not really all that weird. There are stranger heroes around in this city," Cyrus says.

"Yeah but most of 'em went AWOL," Kenny says. "Don't see 'em that much anymore."

Sunny and Jocelyn keep to themselves as the boys talk among themselves. They hadn't much to add to the conversation anyway. Nothing they could say then would alter the outcome of what was very likely inevitable.

Kid had scratched the back of his head with his right hand and then let out a slight 'hm'.

"So there's more than just one of those heroes? That leaves possible room for two different situations.. Situation one our parents are heroes to of some sort and they are off doing something important. Situation two our parents are possibly involved with people who have the capabilities and powers which could explain the disappearance. I can't answer the 'why' to any of those situations though.."

Cyrus and Kenny say nothing and Sunny simply leans against a wall. The three of them refrain completely and totally from saying anything in response to that statement until Cyrus finally speaks up. "Yeah," he says, halfheartedly, "We would."

The lot of these kids look around to one another rather anxiously when suddenly a young man in a black, leather jacket charges through, several gangsters on his tail, shooting and waving knives, yelling obscenities and vivid threats.

Cyrus looks to the others then takes off after the action, the rest soon following.

The boy in the jacket hops over the side of a small bridge, landing below yet somehow sticking the landing unfazed. He then glances up to see that the gangsters are still on him. "Okay," he says to himself. He turns and suddenly realizes that there's a fence blocking the other side of the bridge. "Well, that's terrific." He sees the kids following after the gangsters and gives Cyrus a look.

Cyrus registers the look almost immediately and holds the others back as the gangsters surround the young man. "Now, come on, guys. What'd I ever do to you?"

"To start, you made me and my boys look like jokes the other day. You think we forgot about that?"

"No, but I did. And I'm sure the rest of the city did too. So now what? You liked the attention and you want me to embarrass you all again? Well, if you say so."

He suddenly shields himself with his arms as one of the gangsters takes a shot. The bullet ricochets and strikes one of the gangsters in the leg as the sound of ringing metal echoes over the area. The gangsters falls over and the others watch as suddenly the leader of the bunch is punched in the face with enough force to throw him from his feet. At the end of the fist was what seemed to be an arm, extended far beyond the reach of any normal human being. It was metal. As if spring loaded. An extending metal arm...attached to this mysterious young man sporting a leather jacket. "Yeah," he says as he retracts his arm. He then punches another before grabbing the next and swinging him around into the group. "Well, that was easy."

The kids simply all stare at whatever it was they'd just seen happen. "Whoa," Kenny says.

"Whoa is right. The dude's bionic!"

"That's my name. Don't ware it out. Kid-Bionic at your service. What's up with you lot? Just followed for a show? Kinda dangerous, y'know," the young man says as he approaches them, his hands in his pockets.
